People working on or near Ault Field may notice some disruption to the Navy base’s normal operations – including increased military activity, traffic or delays in base access – this week. Navy officials said the reason is “Reliant Sentinel,” an exercise devoted to enhancing the training and readiness of naval security personnel.

More stringent access measures and increased levels of security at the Oak Harbor Navy base are expected during “Reliant Sentinel.”

The Navy stressed the training is not in response to any specific threat and is a regularly scheduled exercise. It’s scheduled to run from Oct. 14 through Oct. 16.
