Jack Lynch, who previously served as Langley’s planning director for 22 years, filled in as interim director of Community Planning for the past few months in Langley.

His service was recognized by the Langley City Council and Mayor Fred McCarthy on Monday night with a 20-year service pin, a series of handshakes and a round of applause.

“I really appreciate his style and credibility,” McCarthy said.

Lynch said he was pleased to work in Langley again on a few projects during his short stint filling in between previous planning director Jeff Arango, who left for a different job in November, and new Director Michael Davolio, who was hired in January. Lynch told a story of being in a store and being asked by someone if he was Jack Lynch, the former city planner, then being thanked for his work.

“When you’re in the job, you don’t get too many of those,” he laughed.

Long retired, Lynch now spends his time trying to rebuild vitality and economic activity in Clinton as the president of the volunteer Clinton Community Council.
