Langley bicyclist killed by suspected drunk driver

A Langley bicyclist is dead and another man in jail following a fatal collision on East Harbor Road in Freeland Thursday evening. According to the Washington State Patrol, a 58-year-old man was riding a bike eastbound on the right shoulder of East Harbor Road shortly after 9 p.m. when he was struck from behind by a 1997 grey Lexus E300, also eastbound.

According to the Washington State Patrol, a 58-year-old man was riding a bike eastbound on the right shoulder of East Harbor Road shortly after 9 p.m. when he was struck from behind by a 1997 grey Lexus E300, also eastbound. The bicyclist, who has not been publicly named pending notification of his next of kin, died at the scene.

The driver of the Lexus, David Hinton, is suspected of being under the influence of alcohol. He was taken into custody and booked into the Island County Jail. Hinton could face charges of vehicular homicide.

Hinton, 52, has a Sedro Woolley drivers license.
