The Langley City Council will hold a public hearing over a public right of way vacation in the alley between First and Second streets behind the Star Store next week.

The hearing is scheduled to take place at the council’s regularly scheduled monthly meeting at 5:30 p.m. Monday at City Hall.

Star Store owner Gene Felton applied for the vacation to do a remodel of the entrance connected to the Second Street parking lot. In the process of having designer Eric Richmond work on the plans, it was discovered that some of the store’s existing structure and thus its redesign is already on the right of way. At the previous presentation to the council, the elected officials were supportive of giving up the small area.

Other hot-button issues are on the council’s agenda. The city’s possible sale of the old firehouse on Second Street is listed as an information item for the sharing of perspectives.

Food truck relocation, on the heels of a handful of problems with the first one to receive a city license, will also be discussed.

At the end of the meeting, the council is scheduled to have an executive session to consider the minimum price at which real estate will be offered for sale.
