The city of Langley has moved to disband the Langley Library Board after Mayor Tim Callison said the group finished the job it was created to do.

The city passed an ordinance to dissolve the library board on Oct. 3 at the bimonthly city council meeting. The board was set up to make recommendations to the council regarding issues related to maintenance, landscaping and building use.

“They did an exceptional job,” Callison said. “It’s unusual when a citizen commission or any kind of committee formed either in government or in business says, ‘We’re done and we believe we should be disbanded.’ ”

Callison also commended City Councilman Thomas Gill for his work as the council’s library board liaison and guiding members through their work.
