League of Women Voters of Whidbey Island to help register voters

Hoping to increase election participation, the League of Women Voters of Whidbey Island will be present at locations across the island next month to assist with voter registration. The effort is in support of National Voter Registration Day (NVRD), a nationwide, nonpartisan effort to register hundreds of thousands of voters on Tuesday, Sept. 27, according to a recent news release.

The effort is in support of National Voter Registration Day (NVRD), a nationwide, nonpartisan effort to register hundreds of thousands of voters on Tuesday, Sept. 27, according to a recent news release.

“The League believes that elections are important, and every eligible American deserves the chance to weigh in,” the League’s news release said. “Voter registration is the key to helping shape the future of our country. We want to make sure everybody who wants the opportunity to vote on Election Day has their registration up to date.”

League members will help voters register, or update their registration if they have moved, at the following locations and times.

Bayview, from 2-6 p.m. at The Goose

Coupeville, from 2-6 p.m. at Prairie Center Red Apple.

Oak Harbor, from 1-5 p.m. at Skagit Valley College’s Oak Hall.

The last day to register or update registration information by mail or online is Oct. 10. The deadline for in person registration at the Island County Auditor’s Office is Oct. 31.

The League will also hold candidate forums from 6-9 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 13 at the Universalist Unitarian Congregation in Freeland and Thursday, Oct. 20 at Elk’s Lodge in Oak Harbor.
