Logan Vaughn Maynard was born Feb. 19, 2013, at Whidbey General Hospital, weighing 7 pounds, 2 ounces and measuring 19.5 inches. He is the son of James and Carol Maynard of Freeland.

Logan arrived at the hospital via police escort only eight minutes before he was born at 9:30 p.m.

Grandparents are Gary Poland, Stephen Maynard, Cyndy Maynard; big brothers Duncan and Myles Maynard; grandma Donna Bishop; and aunts Elizabeth Merrow, Kathi Abbey and Sabrina Bryant.

Logan arrived with a particular distinction.

“He was born in a bubbly — my water never broke,” said his mother. “Apparently my baby is destined for greatness.”
