Motorcyclist killed in accident on South Whidbey

A 30-year-old motorcyclist was killed in an accident on Highway 525 on South Whidbey Monday night.

The Washington State Patrol reported that Joshua Bybee of Freeland was riding a 2000 Honda VFR 800 motorcycle north on the highway approaching Crawford Road. The motorcycle veered to the right and struck the guardrail.

Bybee was ejected from the motorcycle.

The motorcycle continued into the oncoming lane of traffic and struck a 1996 Chevrolet Tahoe SUV driven by 36-year-old Joseph Turner of Freeland.

Bybee was pronounced dead at the scene. Turner was not injured.

The cause of the crash is under investigation, according to the state patrol.
