New vote count, but no change in Langley council race

The closest race on the South End has been for Position 4 on the Langley City Council.

Allen, who emerged from a three-way primary race with Thomas Gill to advance to the November ticket, had led Gill by 25 votes in the vote count completed on Nov. 10.

Allen’s advantage increased to 27 votes Thursday. He now has 52.9 percent of the vote to Gill’s 47 percent, and leads 245 votes to 218.

A total of 463 votes have been counted in the Position 4 contest.

In the Position 3 race for the Langley City Council, Jim Sundberg has 65 percent of the vote over Robin Adams, who has 34 percent.

Sundberg also picked up two more votes in the latest tally, while Adams’ total remained at 168.

A total of 487 votes have been counted in the Position 3 race.

In the two races for commissioner positions on the board for the Freeland Water and Sewer District, both Marilynn Abrahamson and Lou Malzone, the results remain at landslide proportions.

Abrahamson has 75 percent of the vote to incumbent District Commissioner Jim Short’s 24 percent; Malzone has 76 percent of the vote over incumbent District Commissioner Nolen “Rocky” Knickerbocker’s 23 percent.

Abrahamson has 304 votes; Short, 97. Malzone has 305 votes; Knickerbocker, 92.

In the race for Position 4 on the board of commissioners for the South Whidbey Parks and Recreation District, Joel Gerlach has won the race — 2,670-1,787 — against Jean Streitler III. Gerlach finished with 59.9 percent of the vote, while Streitler had 40 percent.

County election workers said 29,113 ballots had been counted through Thursday. Turnout was estimated at 61.6 percent for the 2011 General Election.
