The Interact Club at South Whidbey High School will meet next week to kick off a new year of service projects and other activities.

On Monday, Sept. 28 the incoming Interact board and their families will meet with the Rotary Club of Whidbey-Westside to socialize, install the new officers, and get fired up about the year ahead.

Established in 2013, the student club is part of Interact International, a Rotary youth network created to promote leadership, international participation, and community service. With approximately 11,000 clubs and 250,000 members worldwide, Interact is one of Rotary’s fastest growing organizations.

The Interact Club of South Whidbey High School is doing its part, with projects like Operations Gratitude that sent letters and packages to military personnel overseas. Other initiatives include a successful food booth at Whidbey Island Arts festival, and a landscaping project for the Whidbey Children’s Theater.

“Rotary is the best organization I have ever been a part of. I have discovered many passions, developed professionally, and gained relationships I couldn’t be more thankful to have,” says Rhylie Frye, a Rotarian and graduate of South Whidbey High School.

“… With my experience starting at South Whidbey High School Interact, I have started a Rotaract Club at my university and can’t wait to continue putting service above self,” she added.
