South Whidbey School District to talk about incentive pay for departing teachers

The South Whidbey School District will vote on incentive pay for teachers alert the district by March 15 that they will vacate their positions.

In return for their early notification, teachers will become eligible for a $2,500 check.

Only teachers who are full-time employees, or nearly full-time, and have been with the school district for at least 10 years can get the bonus pay.

District officials said the district must also receive at least five early resignation letters or no incentives will be offered.

The school board meeting will also be the first workshop on the 2012-2013 budget.

The meeting is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 8 in the school board room at the South Whidbey Primary School Campus, located at 5476 S. Maxwelton Road.
