Coach Tim Collins died this week, according to the South Whidbey School District.

In a Friday morning email, Superintendent Jo Moccia confirmed Collins died Thursday but that additional details were not available.

“Tim dedicated many hours to our youth as a teacher, coach, referee and role model,” Moccia wrote. “More importantly, Tim was a great father and husband. He will be deeply missed.”

Collins was head softball coach and assistant boy’s basketball coach at South Whidbey High School, and girls volleyball coach at Langley Middle School.

A memorial service for Collins will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 22 at the SWHS main gymnasium.
