South Whidbey son named to fishing board

Sam Lungren, a 2007 South Whidbey High School graduate, was recently elected to the American Fly Fishing Trade Association (AFFTA) Board of Directors. Lungren will begin serving a three-year term at the Oct. 16 American Fly Fishing Trade Association Board meeting.

Lungren grew up fishing on Whidbey. He graduated from Gonzaga University in 2011 and earned a master’s degree in journalism from the University of Montana in 2013. He is the editor of the Backcountry Journal and an outdoor writer.
