Whidbey Telecom employees and friends of Mary Quade got together for a good cause on Saturday, May 3, in the company’s parking lot.

The group collected hundreds of items for a garage sale benefitting Quade, a Clinton resident who lost her home in a fire this past April.

The group raised more than $1,500 for Quade.

Lead organizer Mary Posz said the day went well with people stopping by all day to view the hundreds of items for sale. Posz said at the beginning of the day people dropped off more than six truck loads of items ranging from glassware to lumber.

About 20 people came to volunteer throughout the day. Hot dogs and baked goods were also available.

Quade, who was also at the sale, said it was amazing to see so many people come to the sale and help.

“It’s such a wonderful surprise,” she said. “I couldn’t have asked for more supportive friends.”
