Woman arrested for impersonation

A Clinton woman could face jail time for allegedly impersonating a golf course employee and collecting money, according to court documents.

Prosecutors recently charged Tamara G. Goss, 46, in Island County Superior Court with criminal impersonation in the first degree and theft in the third degree.

Goss is accused of collecting money from golfers at Island Greens Golf Course on July 30, claiming that she worked there, according to a police report. The course runs on the honor system in which golfers place money in a drop box.

After “badgering” the golfers into giving her the money, she started walking into the woods, which the golfers thought was suspicious, the report states. One of the men retrieved the money from her, then placed it in the drop box.

Witnesses reported seeing Goss mess with the drop box afterward, the report says.

After she was arrested, Goss denied impersonating a golf course employee or trying to steal money.
