Erma E. Nowak, 81, passed away July 27, 2002 at her home in Greenbank.

She was born June 29, 1921 in Waterville, Washington, a daughter of Earnest and Alma Knighton.

Mrs. Nowak graduated from Wenatchee High School and from what is now is known as Central Washington University at Ellensberg.

She taught in elementary schools in Poulsbo. Kelso and Kirkland, in American schools in Germany for 15 years, and Japan for five years. She also taught in New Jersey and Georgia.

Mrs. Nowak is survived by her husband, Don Nowak of Greenbank; her niece and her husband, Pat and Tom Olsen of Bothell; and her nephew and his wife, John and Sherrie Knighton of Indianapolis.

A memorial service will be held Monday, Aug. 5 at 10 a.m. at St. Hubert Catholic Church in Langley.
