Gwenn Mary Knight: Jan. 24, 1931-Oct. 21, 2017

Gwenn Mary Knight, of Clinton Wash., was born Jan. 24, 1931 in Chicago, Ill. Gwenn went to be with her Lord and Savior on Oct. 21, 2017 at the age of 86.

Gwenn moved to California and graduated from Pasadena Junior college. She worked at the China Lake Rocketeer newspaper where she met her late husband Denman Knight. They married and moved to Washington state.

Gwenn studied interior design and volunteered for Children’s Home Society. Gwenn began her glass career in 1972 when she became aware of the special beauty of stained glass. She opened her stained glass studio in Yakima where she designed and installed custom glass windows throughout the valley. During her studies at the renowned Pilchuck Glass School, she became interested in the art of glass blowing.

She then moved to Whidbey Island in 1984 where she worked as a real estate agent and opened up the Glass Knight Gallery in Langley, Wash.

She continued to blow glass for 20 years and her hand blown art glass shells were featured in many galleries and high end art studios thought out the country. She enjoyed supporting local artists and was involved in her church.

Gwenn is survived by her daughters Karen (Steve), Allison, Lisa Knight; grandchildren John Matthew (Caitlin) Knight, Brian (Annie) Allison, Andrew Knight, Kerri Knight and two great-grandchildren Ellie Allison, William Allison.

Gwenn was preceded in death by her husband Denman Knight, son Mathew Knight, daughter Susan Eva and grandson Charles Knight.

A memorial service will be held for family and friends at 1 p.m. on Jan. 27, 2018 at South Whidbey Assembly at 5373 Maxwelton Road, Langley, WA.
