Herbert Weissblum: Dec. 26, 2017

Herbert “Herb” Weissblum of Whidbey Island, formerly of Winchester, Mass., entered into rest Dec. 26, 2017. Beloved son of the late Jack and Tillie (Wax) Weissblum. Survived by his dear brother Walter Weiss and cousin, Bernard Shuster.

Funeral services were held on Jan. 3, 2018, at the Stanetsky Memorial Chapel, Brookline, Mass. Interment followed at New Tifereth Israel of Everett, Mass.

Herb was active with various organizations around Whidbey Island, including the Marine Corps’ Toys for Tots and the Northwest Maritime Center as a trustee in Port Townsend, and he added his support to numerous events within our island community.

Although Herb spent most of his life on the East Coast, the Pacific Northwest became his mainsail, forging genuine bonds of friendship. He loved telling captivating stories and jokes. He was laid to rest elsewhere, but locally we will remember him for a long time as a man who gave of himself; we were fortunate to have known him.
