Joann Monica Miller went home to her Lord and Savior on April 26, 2018. She was born Dec. 2, 1929 in Lewiston, Idaho. Joann attended Washington State University 1948-1952 and earned her teaching degree. She met the love of her life, James E Miller there and they were married June 20, 1953.
She is survived by her beloved husband Jim, her brother Dennis Bowling (Theresa), her children, Lynn Wills (Don), Mary Savage, Karl Miller (Lisa), Mark Miller (Michelle), and foster son Kevin Broncheau. She was loved dearly by her grandchildren: Hannah Bond (Carl), Betsy Patterson (Corey), Andrew Wills (Femi), Tanner Savage (Taylor), Josie Teske (Jeremy), Kyle Miller, Ryan Miller (Kaylee), Owen Miller, Elie Jo Miller and Grace Miller. Great grandchildren include Madison, Chloe, Ruby, Isabella, Lyric, Aria, Simone, Naya, Zion and Stetson.
Jo had a deep love for children, education and learning. She started teaching in the Edmonds School District, but is best remembered as “Mrs Miller,” from the Sonshine Academy at CMA church in Langley.
Mom loved friends, family, church, camping, picnics, wildlife, parties, puzzles, museums and serving others. In retirement, Mom and Dad enjoyed several trips to Arizona, sightseeing, “Meet & Treats” with Bob and Dee Dee Ross and counting their blessings daily. Memories of Grandma include: Seaside, Ore., playing games, blowing bubbles, watching birds and squirrels, going to Maxwelton Beach, making applesauce, Christmas traditions, her sweet smile, laughter and great hugs.
We are most thankful for her relationship with Jesus and the fact that she shared His love with all of us. She is now home and will forever be in His presence.
A heartfelt thank you to Hospice of Whidbey for the loving friendships formed over the past 10 months while she was cared for with grace, dignity, and love daily. “My sunshine doesn’t come from the skies. It comes from the love in your eyes.”
