June O. Nelson: June 11, 1917 – June 13, 2017

June O. (DeLano) Nelson, born June 11, 1917, died June 13. June was born in Hannah, N.D., to W. E. DeLano and Maud M. DeLano. June was one of three daughters and two sons. She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings.

June grew up in Grand Forks, N.D. She married Ronald Paul Nelson in 1938, and they moved to Seattle in 1942. They later lived in Bellevue, Brownsville, Ore., and Whidbey Island.

June was a mother and homemaker extraordinaire, known for her knitting, sewing, cooking, creative spirit and enjoyment of children. She was an avid golfer and bridge player. June was fun-loving and always brought a smile.

She had a wonderful love of life which she lived with grace, good humor and humility.

She will be deeply missed and always remembered for the joy she brought others.

June was preceded in death by her husband Ron in 2012.

She is survived by her children Garry Nelson (Nancy) of Riverside, Calif.; Ann DesJardien of Olympia; Jim Nelson (Sandy) of Freeland; and Janet Davis of Eugene, Ore. June also leaves 13 grandchildren as well as 19 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held 3 p.m. Saturday, July 22, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Freeland.
