Mariko Twomey

To our loss, and her peace, Mariko passed away comfortably in her sleep at home.

Mariko found her calling early in life taking care of her grandmother, who was in an advanced stage of Alzheimer’s Disease. She graduated from Everett Community College with her RN degree. She then returned to Whidbey Island and assisted our community for over 15 years working at Careage. Those fortunate to be in her care received extraordinary attention and compassion.

Mariko’s inner strength and strong will exceeded her physical strength and it was necessary for her to retire from nursing. She did, however, continue to care for her family and friends during their time of medical need, for which we are forever grateful.

Mariko follows her parents in death, Sean and Myrna Twomey. She is survived by her daughter Kameko (James) & grandsons Michael and Carson; Doug, her husband of 22 years; brothers Sean (Kathy), Niall (Valerie), Tadg (Jeanne); and sister Maire (Jack). She is also survived by her nieces Ciara, Thea & Elle and her nephew Liam.

Mariko’s love of her family and friends will exist in all of us that have felt her compassion. In memory of Mariko please extend more caring, understanding and love towards one another.

The celebration of Mariko’s life will be Saturday, October 29, 2016 at 3 p.m. This will be held at the Eagle’s located at 16691 SR 525 in Freeland.
