Marjorie L. (Reed) Cornelius

Marjorie L. (Reed) Cornelius

Marjorie passed away on March 12, 2016.

She was born on Aug. 30, 1934, in Seattle, to Harry and Doris (Prather) Reed, and attended Roosevelt High School.

She married Thomas Cornelius and moved to Edmonds where they raised three daughters. She worked for Burlington Northern Railroad for 35 years, where she met her life partner Ray O’Neill.

After retiring, she moved to Whidbey Island and became involved with DAR and the Genealogy Society, which led not only to family history but a treasure trove of cherished cousins. She loved her garden, was a voracious reader, and had an unquenchable curiosity and a spunky spirit. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

She is survived by sister-in-law Caroline Summers; daughters, Cathy Rooks (Greg), Barb Keiley (Rob) and Cindy Cornelius (JJ Ficarelli); grandchildren, Charlene Waymire (Curt Lengfelder), Rachel Bigby (Scott), Tom Keiley and Chelsea Keiley (Casey Sanger); great-granddaughters, Bailey Lengfelder, Cadence and Summer Bigby; numerous nieces and nephews; and her cats. She was preceded in death by her brother Larry, Tom Cornelius and Ray O’Neill.

Memorials may be made to ASPCA.org. A celebration of life will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, April 9, at Anthony’s Home in Port Edmonds.
