Neil Mahoney

Neil Richard Mahoney, 49, of Edmonds, went to be with the Lord on June 3, 2002, as the result of a traffic accident.

He was born in Seattle Feb. 8, 1953, to Frank and Lucille Mahoney.

Mr. Mahoney grew up in West Seattle and graduated from Chief Sealth High School in 1971. He turned out in 1981 as a journeyman wireman. He held an administrator’s license and in 1975 was initiated into the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers’ union, Local 16, and was an active member. He loved teaching and, beginning in 1990, taught electrical apprenticeship training classes, among others, for the joint apprenticeship training committee.

Neil played youth football and played trombone for the Chief Sealth High School Marching Band and the Seattle All City High School Band. He loved sports, music and playing guitar, and was an avid bike rider. He devoted many hours to volunteer activities, including Big Brothers Big Sisters. He was a loving, devoted husband and father, and enjoyed spending time with his family. In return, his family cherished time spent with him.

Mr. Mahoney is survived by his wife, Sue; daughter, Sarah; stepson, Travis; mother, Lucille; sister, Mary Mahoney (John Post); brother, Bill (Jeanette) Mahoney; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Frank Mahoney.
