Randal J. Gilkinson or “Rocker” to some Island friends, 64, of Bellingham, passed away on May 9, due to congestive heart failure.

Funeral arrangements are being handled by Mt. Baker Cremation Society.

Randy was born in Trona, Calif., on March 22, 1953. He graduated from Sherman E. Burroughs High School in 1971.

Randy worked in the grocery business for more than 25 years. Married twice, the first of which gave him a son and daughter. He was an avid music lover. He also enjoyed coin collecting, building models, the California desert and anything to do with mining/prospecting. Family and friends were a very important part of his life.

Randy is survived by his mother Kay Gilkinson, brother Kevin Gilkinson and family, sister Janet Weidman and family, sister Nancy Randall and family, son Jake Gilkinson, daughter Selina Furman, son-in-law Kenneth Furman, grandson Benjamin Furman and grandaughter Olivia Furman.

Randy is preceded in death by his father Robert Gilkinson and granddaughter Chloe Furman.
