Robert Joseph Crane

Robert Joseph Crane, age 72, passed away on Nov. 15, 2015, at home, surrounded by his family, just three months after being diagnosed with acute leukemia.

He was born in Spokane on July 20, 1943, and grew up in Priest River, Idaho.

Bob was drafted into the Vietnam War where he served as a military policeman and a sentry dog handler. Throughout his career he did heavy construction, primarily the operation and inspection of massive tunnel boring machines, working on underground and underwater tunnels in the Seattle Metropolitan area, California, eastern Washington and other locations in the United States.

Bob bought 10 acres in Langley in 1978 and spent a good deal of time shooting pool and drinking Pepsi at the Doghouse there. In 1988, he married Jody Berto over coffee in JB’s Ice Creamery in Langley. The ceremony was officiated by Neil Coburn, and witnessed by Joe Primavera.

He will be remembered for his generosity, incredible building projects, beautiful blue eyes and wonderful beard.

Bob is survived by his wife, Jody Crane (Langley); his two sons and best friends, Joseph Crane (Freeland) and Robert Crane (Langley); and a sister, Joella Bruno (Dave) of Lake Havasu, Ariz.

A small private celebration of life will be held. Any remembrances may be made to CADA, http://www.cadacanhelp.org//.
