Ronald Harry Young: July 24, 1952 – Jan. 15, 2019

Ronald Harry Young, born July 24, 1952, passed away peacefully at home on Jan. 15, 2019 at the age of 66.

Ron was the second of three children born to LeeRoy and Clarice (Tootie) Young. He grew up in West Seattle before moving to Whidbey Island for his senior year of high school, and he graduated from Langley High.

Ron met the love of his life, Karen Thrasher, in August 1975 in Seattle and they married July 17, 1982.

Ron brought two kids from a previous marriage, Ian and Colin Young, to join the family. Together with Kari they had three more boys, Shane, Levi and Max, for a total of five young men.

Ron worked construction for the majority of his career. First as an oiler for Mobile Crane, a company both his grandfather and father worked for. Later he worked assembling tower cranes. He finished the last 17 years of his working days as a maintenance technician for the Tukwila School District.

Ron was a wonderful guitar player and made a point of teaching all his children, granddaughter and their friends the art. He was a kind soul who looked out for others and always took the time to learn everyone’s name. Ron’s favorite vacation spot was camping at Fort Ebey on Whidbey Island.

Ron was preceded in death by his father LeeRoy and his sister Donna. He is survived by his mother Clarice (Tootie); his sister Laurie; his wife Kari; his sons Ian (wife Gina), Colin (wife Jennifer), Shane (wife Melissa), Levi and Max; as well as his four grandchildren, Wyatt, Sophie, Oliver and Orion.

A graveside memorial will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 26 at St. Peter’s Lutheran Cemetery in Clinton, 6309 S. Wilson Place, Clinton, WA 98236.

The family suggests sending memorial contributions to Kaiser Permanente Hospice Care.
