Sophie May Anderson (1918- 2014)

Sophie passed away peacefully in her sleep on June 10, 2014, after a brief illness and in the company of her loving grandson, Erick Hendricks. On May 15, 2014, Sophie celebrated her 96th birthday while living independently in her Holmes Harbor home with an active mind and in good physical health. The daughter of Finnish immigrants, Sophie moved to Whidbey Island 40 years ago and spent nearly 30 years volunteering at the Community Thrift Store benefitting senior services. She enjoyed spending time in her garden and raising chickens. She was the devoted wife of Henry Erick Anderson and loving mother of Janet Anderson, James Anderson and Roger Anderson. Sophie is survived by her son James Anderson, grandchildren Erick Hendricks and Hallie Anderson, and great-granddaughter Jamison Hendricks.
