To the editor:

The family of Dick “Papa” Trefts would like to express our gratitude to all who participated in the Columbia Beach BBQ Fundraiser on

Sept. 4 at the Bayview Farmers Market.

It is truly amazing to see our community, along with total strangers, pull together during tough times to help someone in need, and you definitely did just that for our beloved “Papa.”

For starters, we would like to thank Randy, Ron, Lynne, Jim, Alyssa, Lucy, Marc and Cindee (the BBQ team) for donating their time, talent and proceeds towards Papa’s final arrangements. We also want to thank all of you who donated money in the donation box and into envelopes that many of the vendors had in their booths at the market. A box with all of the proceeds was presented to Papa that same day. Papa was overwhelmed and unable to express his feelings in words. He passed the next morning.

Columbia Beach Barbecue and the Trefts family would like to thank all who donated by offering an appreciation chocolate cupcake in memory of Papa at our next market barbecue at the Bayview Farmers Market.
