Planned growth is needed | LETTER TO THE EDITOR

To the editor:

Kudos to the majority of the Island County Commissioners for implementing the Freeland Subarea Comprehensive Plan recently. Even though I live in Coupeville, it seems to me that planned growth in any area of Island County is better for all of us than haphazard growth everywhere.

These guidelines, which are mandated by the Washington State Growth Management Act, (a law passed by the Legislature in 1990) will allow for continued community input as this growing business and housing center gains population in the future. Thanks, Helen and Angie, for your forward-looking action.
