To the editor:

I get a good chuckle reading Mr. Freeman’s letters. He is lost in his ideology, blindly spouting worn-out political cliches, a mini-blowhard weakly mimicking some of the great Republican and Democratic blowhards of our time, Rush Limbaugh, Bill Maher, Donald Trump and Dennis Kucinich, to name a few.

Our community and country is not served well by left and right leaning airbags who disparage opposing views with emotional accusations and by “facts” that insult our intelligence.

There is one fact Freeman is unable to fathom: Once elected and off to Washington, Republicans and Democrats are indistinguishable from each other in their inability to fix our country or to capably represent the interests of the majority of Americans. To paraphrase an astute observer, “Left wing, right wing. These are the wings of the same bird.”

As difficult as it may look, the way out of our current political morass is to support legitimate third-party alternatives rather than prop up or vote with the current two-party offerings. The diatribes of Freeman are a waste of energy and editorial space. All of us would be better served, and Freeman would have a more positive impact, if he focused his energy by painting himself Navy blue and screaming for nine innings at a Mariners game.
