To the editor:

Isn’t it time that the auditor’s office of Island County dispense with this ridiculous idea of mailing two ballots separately for a couple to the same address, and requiring each ballot form to be mailed back separately. What a waste of paper and postage!

I know their concern. Privacy. Everyone is obsessed with it. I suppose they are concerned that a husband and wife will find out which candidates or issues the other is voting for. Wow. Surprise. As if the couple didn’t talk about their preferences.

And if it really is an issue then surely we could get two pink privacy envelopes in the same mailing and mail them back together.

Is the county getting a kick-back from the post office for the extra business?
