To the editor:

Why did the author of the “Napping Teens Raise Awareness of Homeless Youths” article think it was appropriate to use the full name of one of our community’s at-risk youth?

When Nicole was interviewed, she made it clear that she was living with her father who USED TO BE abusive. She asked that her last name not be used because while she felt safe at her father’s house; the relationship is fragile. Shame on you for publishing Nicole’s last name after agreeing not to do it. It reeks of journalistic sensationalism. Nicole’s intent was to raise awareness for Ryan’s House, not get kicked out of her home. Despite a troublesome childhood, Nicole is a bright, stable person with solid plans for her future. She deserves to be celebrated and supported.
