Misinformation is harmful | LETTER TO THE EDITOR

February 14, 2012 · 7:19 AM

To the editor:

I want to make sure that our community has accurate information about our fire district. Moreover, I encourage people and newspapers with concerns about anything involving our fire district to contact me or our commissioners before sending letters to the editor that spread misinformation to the public.

For the record, your tax dollars do not pay for a daycare center, nor will they. Likewise,

95 percent of the money to purchase a boat for our Marine Rescue program will be funded through a grant that we worked very hard to get.

Please check your facts before making assumptions. The public trust is fragile, and misinformation can be harmful to our long-term efforts to provide the programs  we need to save lives.

H.L. “RUSTY” PALMER, FIRE CHIEF

South Whidbey Fire/EMS
