LETTERS TO THE EDITOR | People create traffic problems
May 18, 2012 · Updated 3:42 PM
To the editor:
I feel for good drivers on Whidbey, but with all due respect, the problem is not stop signs, as one letter-writer stated, nor is it weather or road conditions. The problem is people; people who simply do not care, drive recklessly or assume the right of way. I’ve had several close calls on the highway where someone crossed the double yellow line while talking on their cell phone, which, by the way, is illegal.
I used to love driving our roads because of so little traffic and good overall conditions, but that is changing fast. We are not California or Oregon, people! Get a grip! There are other drivers on the road.
Courtesy, following the rules of the road or simply waiting until it’s clear and safe before you pull out into traffic goes a long way toward preventing so many needless accidents.
