LETTERS TO THE EDITOR | Telecom comes through

To the editor:
On behalf of the Whidbey Island Branch of AAUW (American Association of University Women) we would like to thank Whidbey Telecom for providing us with a wonderful venue in which to present our program on Saturday, May 12.
Judi Rising of the Benaroya Research Institute Speakers Bureau informed us about the research BRI is doing on autoimmune diseases. Whidbey Telecom’s center in Freeland is a state-of-the-art facility with great acoustics, a huge screen for PowerPoint presentations and plenty of seating for our members and guests. Normally, our budget would not allow us to utilize this space, since we conserve our funds for scholarships and grants for young women on the island; but our contact, Melene Thompson, and other folks at Whidbey Telecom who worked with us, were very cordial and efficient in accommodating our needs.
We are very fortunate to have such a magnificent facility on the island and a company that is so generous in sharing the facility with the rest of us.

AAUW-Island Branch
