LETTERS TO THE EDITOR | Working hard for Social Security

To the editor:

Dear politicians: Would one of you please explain to me how Social Security is defined as an entitlement program? I would especially like to hear the explanation from one of you who wants to kill the program.

I have been putting money into it since I got my first job as a dishwasher at age 14. I am now a 60-year-old mechanical designer and I am still putting money into the system. How is it entitlement if in five or six years I want to start getting some of my money back?
