LETTERS TO THE EDITOR | Runners’ coverage lacking

To the editor:

As a South Whidbey resident and an athlete at South Whidbey High School, I am sorely disappointed in the coverage of the cross country team by the sports editor for the South Whidbey Record.

The sports page, week after week, reflects disproportional coverage compared to other high school sports.

The cross country team has been the only high school team to compete at the state level this year. The sports editor failed to even mention the state competition in Saturday’s paper, Nov. 3. The paper did however publish a front page feature on the hair braiding of JV volleyball players.

My suggestion is to recognize the efforts and accomplishments of the cross country team of this year and prevent future omissions for the following years.
