LETTERS TO THE EDITOR | A deserving Hometown Hero

January 8, 2013 · Updated 2:18 PM

To the editor:

What a joy to read in my online Green edition of the Record this morning that Clyde Monma has been honored as a Hometown Hero. Clyde and Marcia are two of the brightest lights on South Whidbey, and they’ve used that light to brighten the lives of so many young people over the past several years.

Instead of retiring to a beautiful island and living on past accomplishments, Clyde has used his time and resources to accomplish much for the South Whidbey community. The adults who know him admire him and the kids who know him love him, all with good reason. He is a kind, generous and thoughtful man who was also an excellent student himself in writing classes at Skylark Writing Studio.

Congratulations, Clyde. I’m proud to know you. Nobody on Whidbey Island has a better smile, and I feel the warmth of that smile all the way over here in Bellevue!

Aloha.
