March 12, 2013 · Updated 5:57 PM
To the editor:
How does any organization consider $586 to $968 per month low-income rental? (The Record, “Low income housing in Freeland,” Feb. 20).
Does Housing Authority Director Teri Anania live in La La Land? Or did the supporters help pass the “free to smoke pot” law?
Many seniors receive $900 or less monthly income from Social Security.
Is the country or state expected to give these tenants the necessary money to buy electricity, groceries, personal upkeep items, cleaning supplies, water, etc.?
And there’s always extras.
In addition, this proposed site is a swampy area receiving runoff from three hillsides. How does a contractor expect a swamp to receive septic drainage?
The paper was the first I’ve heard of this project. In the past I’ve seen Fish Road layered in water from runoff.
I hope they don’t expect to dry the land with piping into Holmes Harbor.
That mess has already been done, and no, you can’t put a purification system in Freeland Park, the fresh water would change the ecosystem of the salt water.
