LETTER TO THE EDITOR | Volunteers embellish SWHS tennis courts
To the editor:
We’d like to publicly thank several groups of people who have recently helped to improve the South Whidbey High School tennis courts. Last spring the SWHS Athletic Booster Club donated $1,000 for spectator seating at the courts. Our sports programs would not be as successful as they are without the ongoing support from the Athletic Booster Club. Thank you to our officers Nancy Thelen, Tami Fallon, Gretchen Mills and Marie Grady for volunteering your time and leadership; thank you to all the members who work so hard to fundraise for our athletic programs!
SWHS Engineering Technology and Design class, taught by Chad Felgar, used the grant money for supplies to build 7 benches. The students created and proposed their own designs and over the past few weeks built them. They look great! Thank you for your creativity, your professionalism in developing your designs and presentations, and for your labor in building and installing them.
We also have two brand new nets thanks to the South Whidbey Community Tennis Association. And finally, we thank are school employees Dan Carter, Larry Poolman and Jerry Foreman for power washing them and keeping them looking so nice.
We are fortunate to live in a community with seven public tennis courts; we are grateful for the donations in money, labor and supplies that we’ve received in order to maintain this facility. Thank you!
