LETTER TO THE EDITOR | Hospital needs better rooms

To the editor:

On May 7, my left knee total replacement was performed by Dr. Picco at the hospital. I was then transferred to Careage for rehab. The therapists are excellent. They should all wear a badge: “I know how.”

Unfortunately I contracted pneumonia and was again admitted to Whidbey General. My hospital experience gave me the opinion that the hospital’s crowded rooms are not efficient for function. There is not enough space for the nurses, doctors and medial equipment to be in the room. The last bond issue was defeated. The ones who voted “no” should take a visit and see how limited the room space is.

The expansion is not for luxury but for necessity. Thank you, Dr. Roof, for taking care of me in such a crowded room. Whidbey General is the only one we have. Let’s take care of it and vote yes.
