LETTER TO THE EDITOR | Anti-noise signs get ‘the bird’ every time

Editor,

Being a third generation resident of Whidbey Island I find the “noise” signs on Central Whidbey very offensive.

The jet noise that you complain about has always been a part of growing up here.

Like my dad told me and as the sign says, “It is the Sound of Freedom.”

When I hear the jets, I get goosebumps and hope that our country is as loud and fierce as they are if the time should ever come that we need them right here to protect you and yours.

No one made you buy your home in the flight path. If you don’t like it then perhaps you need to go back to where you came from, or learn how to use ear plugs or put the headphones on and listen to music with “The Sound of Freedom” in the background.

Life is too short to complain about something that has always been here and I hope always will be.

Personally, I flip those signs “the bird” every time I drive by.
