Letters to the Editor

LETTER TO THE EDITOR | Ryan’s House for Youth counts its blessings

Editor,

Ryan’s House for Youth is extremely grateful for the overwhelming generosity and support of the community island-wide over recent months. These contributions of time, goods, services, and funds mean that the most vulnerable of our youth will continue to receive shelter, with the support of caring adults, and can successfully complete their schooling.

The board and staff wish to note in particular the contributions of:

— Deja Blooze and David Gregor for the performance of “Journaling the Blues” at our November fundraising concert at WICA in Langley;

— Whidbey Westside Rotary, St. Dunstan’s Church, Ignite Ministries and the Oak Harbor Low-rider Club for providing holiday gifts for our 13 host family/support students;

— Saint Augustine’s and Saint Dunstan’s Churches for providing space, pizza, beverages and desserts for last week’s Host Family Christmas Party.

While there are too many to name individually, we thank also the hundreds of additional Whidbey Island citizens for all the hours, item donations and caring shared year-round with the young people we serve.

LORI CAVENDER,

director
