To the editor:

We have four candidates running for county commissioner District 1.

Phil Bakke is the obvious choice among them. He has been proving himself already as commissioner since his appointment to the post. He has shown good judgment on the job, and has a great background, having been the Island County Director of Community Planning and Development, and a number of years in the planning department before that.

Phil holds a bachelor’s degree in environmental science, and recently received his master’s degree in public administration. He is highly qualified.

I had the pleasure of working with Phil some years ago during the time I served on the Island County Planning Commission, and know him to be honest, hardworking and totally committed to Island County.

Let’s keep a superb, well qualified commissioner on the job. Please vote for Phil Bakke.
