I just read your article about Island Transit and their financial problems. I am not surprised that the only people who are going to suffer over this huge mistake are the drivers and the riders, as usual.
Why not let the people who are in charge (and should have caught this mistake long ago) take a cut in pay and benefits — they are the ones at fault. Why wasn’t this caught at the board meetings? I have been on many boards and at every board meeting we had a financial report to go over and study. What are they doing at these meetings anyway?
As usual, the people at the bottom have to suffer for the mistakes at the top. Many people depend on the bus daily for their jobs, doctor appointments, shopping etc. I bet none of the top management worry about that while they drive around in their company-owned cars and cash their large paychecks.
This makes me sick. Heads should roll, starting at the very top.
