To the editor:

Recently, voters in the 10th District received a mailer with a poor attempt at a smear campaign by the Citizens Action Group.

On it, photos of Mary Margaret Haugen and a weak Soviet-era leader were placed side by side. My assumption is that Citizens Action Group was equating her with him.

Who are the faces behind the opaque Citizens Action Group? George Weyerhaeuser is one of them. He is directly involved by his membership in The Leadership Council. I would hope that he would know that this inflammatory mailer would invoke in some, the old cold war communist hatred.

What this mailer accomplished was to have the children of ignorant parents harass and torment Mary Margaret's grandchildren. Because of George Weyerhaeuser's torment when he was kidnapped as a child, you would think that he would find the result of this underhanded smear campaign deplorable.
