To the editor:

You probably hadn’t heard that the Navy plans to test new weapons, explode underwater charges and lob more “depleted” uranium (half life 4 billion years) in the Olympic National Marine Sanctuary (home to orcas, turtles and much more) among other West Coast locations.

Well, that may be because they didn’t want you to hear. Their Web site was down for 15 percent of their environmental impact statement’s public comment period (ending Feb. 11!) and folks have been electronically rebuffed attempting to comment.

You might comment yourself. Please copy to your representative if you do. And while you’re at it, ask for a comment period extension.

The Navy’s Web site is: http://www.nwtrangecomplexeis.com/EIS.aspx then click “get involved.”

Thanks.
