LETTER TO THE EDITOR | Give credit where it’s due

To the editor:

Mr. McNett’s recent letter to the editor, dated May 23, tries to redefine what “safe” means in the context of 9/11. He cleverly inserts his litany of bad Bush choices to give his opinion of “safe.”

Clearly “safe” means not suffering a horrendous terrorist attack on American soil. That did not happen during the Bush years. Three planned attacks were stopped by our intelligence and law-enforcement communities.

Think back to the mindset after 9/11. It would have been unimaginable to most Americans that we would go this long without another attack. Give credit where credit is due. We have been “safe.”
