To the editor:

On behalf of the South Whidbey CERT team I would like to thank the hospital foundation for their support of our program.

On June 4, the hospital foundation donated a generous grant. CERT, or Community Emergency Response Team, is a community-based volunteer effort of members trained and certified to help first themselves, their family and then their community. Our mission is to be ready to respond to emergencies with people helping people while maintaining rescuer safety, and doing the greatest good for the greatest number of people.

CERT training includes, among other things, disaster preparedness and safety, triage and first aid, and light search and rescue. The meetings take place every fourth Tuesday of the month.

For further information, contact Dave Hollet at 360-240-5572. New members are welcome.
