To the editor:

Soroptimists of South Whidbey recently presented our fourth annual Island Girls Live Their Dreams Camp at South Whidbey High School. This empowerment camp for sixth- to ninth-graders teaches girls how to cope with the many pressures in today’s world.

We would like to thank all of the volunteers who helped make this camp possible. We would especially like to thank our hairdressers who donated their time to cut or style the hair of every girl: the Color Box Salon, Rumours Salon, La Salon Bella, Just B Salon, Studio A Salon and the Northwest Hair Academy.

Thank you, too, for the girls that attended camp and the parents that drove them. We appreciate the donation of cupcakes, walkie-talkies and extension cords from everyone. Thank you Soroptimists for sponsoring this wonderful opportunity to let our young girls know the community cares.
